1.  If you were written about in the newspaper, on the front page, what would the headline say?

ANNIE OLDHAM: YA author writes clean reads for tweens and up.

2. If you could make the sky any color what would it be?

ANNIE OLDHAM: We get gorgeous sunsets down here in Phoenix. I'd have the sky be painted orange and red like a sunset all day long. Until I get tired of it. Then lavender might be fun.

3.  If you were shrunk to the size of a pencil and put in a blender, how would you get out?

ANNIE OLDHAM: I'd just have to wait for my husband to make a smoothie. He makes them. all. the. time.

Hahaha - Thanks, Annie!

ABOUT THE BURN:
The Burn

(To purchase: Amazon and Smashwords)

SYNOPSIS:
The Burn is full of nuclear fallout, roving gangs, anarchy, unreliable plumbing. That's what Terra's father tells her. She has lived her whole life in comfort in a colony at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. She hates it. And she would pay any price to leave. But when Terra finally escapes the colony, she finds out her father is right.

She finds a group of survivors that quickly become friends, and every day with them is a race for survival. When she witnesses and commits unspeakable acts, she has to decide where her loyalty lies: with the colony she despises or The Burn, where every day is filled with nightmares.

What inspired your novel or series? Discuss writing it.

ANNIE OLDHAM: The Burn was inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's A Little Mermaid (none of that Disneyfied nonsense). I was reading that fairy tale one day, and I thought, "What if this story happened, but with a human, not a fish?" And so I sat down and came up with the colonies at the bottom of the ocean, and everything started falling into place. It was interesting to write, figuring out how to translate the events of that fairy tale into a dystopian novel. A little gory--cutting a tongue out is never very pretty, climbing a mountain until Terra's feet bled, ick! But a lot of fun.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

ANNIE OLDHAM: Away from her writing, Annie is the mother of the two most adorable girls in the world, has the best husband in the world, and lives in the hottest place in the world (not really, but Phoenix sure feels like it). She loves to cook, sing, and play the piano.

And... PAY IT FORWARD! Best Indie Author You've Read!

ANNIE OLDHAM: I've recently read Daniel Coleman's Hatter. It's his second book based on Lewis Carroll's Wonderland. I love the way he's taken those stories and filled them in with back stories on characters.
